We seek an two intelligent, motivated individuals to participate in a mouse electrophysiology lab studying schizophrenia, depression, and anxiety. The successful applicant will work under minimal supervision and perform laboratory duties as required.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Mouse colony husbandry of transgenic mouse lines

Colony tracking

Histology: tissue sectioning & staining

Executing requisitions for lab supplies and inventory tracking

Stereotaxic surgery implanting custom microdrives and viral infusions

Building custom microdrives for implantation

Behavioral testing mice (manual & automated T-Maze, EPM, etc)

Scoring behavioral tests

Assist in data analysis via Matlab

Support on-going experiments as needed by investigators

Upkeep of various operational records such as: animal colony database, DEA usage logs, Safety-Data-Sheets & chemical inventory

Grant expenditure tracking and invoice logging


Applicant must have a Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, or a related science and at least one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Previous experience with neural recording systems and various rodent behavioral paradigms is also preferred. She/he must be meticulous in carrying out research protocols. Good judgment and the ability to work without continuous supervision are very important as well as familiarity with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Matlab.
