We are seeking applicants for a research assistant position in Dr. Jonathan Posner's research lab at NYSPI to assist in  research projects using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to better understand the mechanisms underlying typical development and psychiatric disease in infants and young children. The position is full-time. Weekend and evening hours are required to accommodate participant schedules.

The research assistant will be responsible for collecting behavioral and MRI data from infants, children and parents participating in brain imaging studies examining the function and organization of neural circuits.

Specific duties will include:
1) Telephone pre-screening of potential research participants
2) Schedule research participants for evaluations and MRI scans
3) Obtain informed assent/consent from prospective research participants and their parents
4) Collect bio-specimens including urine samples for pregnancy testing and saliva samples for genetic and hormone testing
5) Administer and score psycho-diagnostic and cognitive assessments
6) Administer computer-based cognitive performance tasks
7) Work with MRI Technologist to collect brain imaging data
8) Enter data and perform basic data management and analyses


Minimum Qualifications:

1) Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Human Development, Neuroscience, or related field
2) Experience working with infants or children
3) Prior research experience
4) Available evenings (two weekday evenings/week) and weekends (two weekend days/month) as needed to accommodate participant schedules


Preferred Qualifications:

1) Experience collecting MRI data
2) Experience conducting basic MRI analyses (basic quality checks)
3) Spanish-speaking
4) Experience working with children or adults with psychiatric disorders
