We are seeking a post-doctoral research fellow to work as part of an interdisciplinary team with epidemiologists, computer scientists, geneticists, and psychiatrists on an NIMH funded project.  This project will address relationships between clinical characteristics and genome wide scores in electronic health record data linked to bio-bank data from four health centers.  The objectives of the project include (1) improving the identification of major depressive, anxiety and substance use disorders and related outcomes in electronic health record data, (2) evaluating associations of polygenic risk scores, social factors, and other environmental conditions with these common psychiatric disorders, and (3) assessing associations between polygenic risk scores and outcomes including treatment-resistant depression and health care use in patients with mood, anxiety, and substance use disorders. This position provides opportunities for publications and for developing expertise in psychiatric epidemiology and  genetics.


Some travel outside of New York City area will be required.


-Use knowledge of epidemiology to refine questions and hypothesis relating to psychiatric disorders and other medical conditions.
-Manipulate and assist in developing large databases, to obtain and analyze variables as required
-Prepare and perform statistical analysis; interpret basic and advanced analyses
-Document analyses, create summaries and present results to collaborators verbally and as a presentation
-Collaborate with investigators to ensure that project results and conclusions are presented accurately and without bias
-Write study reports to be incorporated in abstracts, manuscripts and grants 
-Conduct literature reviews, write background and approach sections for manuscripts

Minimum Qualifications:

PhD in epidemiology or other a related field

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of mood, anxiety and substance use disorders plus ; familiarity with  Polygenic Risk Scores and genomics a plus Proficiency with using R, SAS, Experience with statistical analysis of large clinical datasets
