The Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene, Inc. has an immediate opening for the position of Project Director. Under the direction of the Principal Investigator, the full-time Project Director will manage a new evaluation of the effectiveness of services provided by telephone crisis centers belonging to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (NSPL or Lifeline). Key evaluation priorities include determining the extent to which crisis calls to the Lifeline reduce callers' perceived risk of suicidal behavior and assessing the impact of a new crisis counselor training model.

The Project Director will provide the day-to-day management of the project. daily tasks will include overseeing the research assistants, establishing working relationships with participating crisis centers, training center staff on evaluation procedures, maintaining weekly contact with the crisis center directors in order to track the progress of the recruitment of callers for the evaluation interview, and managing project databases containing data from multiple sources. the Project Director will also assist in data analyses, presentations, progress reports, and final report and manuscript submissions.

The minimum education required is an MA, MS, or MPH in a research-oriented social science field. Prior research experience in social science or public health is required. Preference will be given to applicants with prior experience in a supervisory role. Must be meticulous, detail oriented, and have excellent writing and interpersonal skills. Must have good working knowledge of various software programs (e.g. Excel, Word, ACCESS, SPSS).

Prior experience as a telephone crisis counselor, or comparable clinical experience is preferred.
