The Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene, Inc. is seeking a computationally oriented Postdoctoral Research Associate to join the Dynamic Social Cognition Lab (DSC Lab, at Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC) and New York State Psychiatric Institute (NYSPI), located next to each other in New York City. Columbia University is a world-recognized leader in neuroscience research, and NYSPI has long been a leader in psychiatric research. The DSC Lab is focused on using a combination of naturalistic stimuli (such as movies), eye-tracking, and high-precision neuroimaging methods to study social cognition deficits in schizophrenia and other psychiatric disorders. This postdoctoral research associate will join a new R01-funded project using novel retinotopic mapping methods to study the relationship of saccadic eye-movements, visual attention systems, and social cognition deficits.

The start date for these positions are flexible, 1-6 months from now. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, and the positions will remain open until filled. RFMH, Columbia University and NYSPI are Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Actions employers, and we encourage women, minorities, persons at economic disadvantage, and persons with disabilities to apply.

Depending on interests and expertise, your role may involve face-to-face contact with clinical populations, acquisition of fMRI data, computer vision methods to analyze eye-tracking data, and/or the use of circuit-based computational models to analyze various modalities of fMRI data. You will also have the opportunity to work with our collaborators along with other investigators here at Columbia University.

Minimum Qualifications include:
-Doctoral degree in a relevant field (such as neuroscience, psychology, computer science, or medicine)
-Strong quantitative skills:
-Scripting experience in MATLAB, Python, and/or shell)
-Background in relevant statistical (regression, permutation testing) and neuroimaging analysis methods (graph theory, clustering techniques)
-Experience with behavioral and neuroimaging data acquisition and processing, including eye-tracking
-Interest in neural mechanisms of visuospatial and social cognition as well as clinical psychopathology

Preferred Qualifications:

Desirable experience includes use of machine learning/AI methods for neuroimaging and behavioral data analysis and/or visual feature extraction from movies
