The New York State Psychiatric Institute (NYSPI) provides top-notch, world-wide clinical, educational and psychiatric research services. Affiliated with both the Columbia University Medical Center and New York State Office of Mental Health and located adjacent to the Columbia University Medical Center and New York Presbyterian Hospital in upper Manhattan, NYSPI programs seek to continue to lead in neurological and psychiatric discovery and care.
Reporting to the NYSPI Director of Application Development, the Technical Specialist will develop and support web-based applications using Microsoft solutions, including C#.Net and Visual Studio. Projects will be developed in structured project methodologies and support managed through ITIL processes.

 

The Technical Specialist will develop and support web-based applications using Microsoft solutions, including C#.Net and Visual Studio. Projects will be developed in structured project methodologies and support managed through ITIL processes. The selected candidate will be expected to be self-motivated, communicate status with supervisory and project management staff, provide direct support to application users and/or business leads. The Technical Specialist will work to both support legacy applications as well as advance new projects and system enhancements using newer standards and methodologies.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree or higher in Computer Science or related software development field
At least three years corporate software development experience
Demonstrable professional proficiency in web programming using ASP.net, C#.net, JavaScript and Ajax.
Professional experience developing SQL stored procedures and supporting SQL database design
Experience in use of Microsoft Visual Studio for development and source control

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Professional experience developing and supporting PHP-based web applications
Experience developing web applications in a service-oriented architecture
Experience developing web applications in a shared user portal environment
Experience developing in an agile project methodology
Professional experience developing and running formal deployment test plans
Professional experience in healthcare IT
Experience leveraging web application security solutions, such as source code analysis and/or application vulnerability management solutions
Application development and/or application security certification
